Kristofer Björkman, CVO and founder of Mynewsdesk, talks about new developments around Mynewsdesk’s Network feature:
Last autumn, we launched Mynewsdesk Network, a feature that allows journalists, bloggers, and other influencers to follow companies directly, and potentially develop a better relationship with them on their own terms. We are continually developing and improving this feature. And now, we have launched the possibility for journalists to create a richer, fuller profile on their Mynewsdesk account. It is an important step closer towards our goal to create a network of journalists and companies, in which simple and effective information and news exchange becomes the norm.
Apart from being able to fill in a full profile on Mynewsdesk, journalists and other influencers can also import their profiles from LinkedIn. Using Network, journalists can choose which companies to follow. As a follower, you can receive a company’s press releases, news, and blog updates directly in your newsfeed on your Mynewsdesk dashboard. You can also choose to receive news via email.
Companies have the possibility to send out information exclusively to their followers. Journalists and communicators can also send direct messages to each other.
We will continue developing our network feature over the coming months, but I think that this will improve the current dialogue, as well as the flow of news ideas to and from our users.
Among journalists, I see a clear trend towards becoming more public on the web, becoming more approachable, allowing direct contact and cooperation with their audience and getting more sources and sides to a story.
Just a few days ago, a Facebook page was created, Journalists on Facebook, to encourage journalists to do just that – open a Facebook page and become public.
I believe that Mynewsdesk’s Network was launched just at the right time. Today we already have over 10 000 followers listed and over 20 000 companies signed up.
